'Assassin's Creed Odyssey' Sounds Like 'Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag'
Okay, so at this point we only know three things about the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. For one thing, it's called Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. For another, it's set in Ancient Greece. And finally, it will have a spiffy little keychain to go along with it. There are some other rumors floating around it, however, notably that it will feature dialogue choices for the first time in the series history, and that it will include a level of character customization that we haven't necessarily seen before. There's another rumor that interests me the most, however, and that's that this game takes some naval cues from the pirate-themed Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

Uplay is giving Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag away for free this week
When publishers give away games, it often feels like the digital equivalent of a box marked "Free!" on the side of the road--inevitably you open it up to find a VHS copy of Captain Ron, a pair of ripped sweatpants, and some scratched-up Neil Diamond records. Case in point: Last week Deep Silver gave away copies of Homefront and like...why? But occasionally a freebie comes along that's actually worth nabbing. Cue Ubisoft, which this week is giving out free copies of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag--either the best of the Assassin's Creeds or, if you've been in this a long time, maybe the second-best (after ACII). Okay, some people really love this year's Assassin's Creed: Origins and might say third best.
'Assassin's Creed IV' & 'World In Conflict' Free Download Schedule Announced
Players who have yet to have their very own copies of "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" and "World In Conflict" can now rejoice. Since Ubisoft is celebrating the anniversaries of the two PC classics, it has decided to offer them to fans for free this holiday season. On Monday, Ubisoft associate communications manager Chris Watters announced via Ubiblog that the company is giving players the chance to download "Assassin's Creed IV" and "World in Conflict: Complete Edition" on Uplay PC for free. While "World of Conflict" is celebrating its 10th anniversary since its release, "Assassin's Creed" is celebrating the first decade anniversary of the franchise. Ubisoft is honoring the milestones by giving players free access to these two this December. "Set yourself up for a holiday filled with fun and free games by downloading'World in Conflict' and'Assassin's Creed IV' for free this December," Watters wrote.

Assassin's Creed: Origins review in progress: Climb like an Egyptian
It all makes sense once you know the team who worked on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag worked on Assassin's Creed: Origins. Which is to say: The reboot has been rebooted. After Black Flag's sprawling Caribbean adventure, Ubisoft said it wanted to rediscover the "roots" of I the Assassin's Creed franchise for its next installment, Unity. And laugh at Unity's abysmal launch all you want (I certainly did), it accomplished Ubisoft's goal. Unity brought the series back to the Assassin's Creed II era, focusing on a single city (Paris) with enough towering cathedrals and palaces to let the reworked parkour mechanics shine.
Ubisoft's E3 event brings back Assassin's Creed, Beyond Good & Evil, and Black Flag's ship battles
It seemed like a press conference of zero surprises as we rolled through Ubisoft's E3 2017 spectacular. Which is not to say there were no games--just that almost all the games on offer were announced beforehand, either officially or unofficially (read: leaked). That being said, we did get extended looks at all the above--some, like The Crew 2, for the first time ever. Then Ubisoft started pulling stuff out of left field. Transference had a bizarre cinematic trailer, while Skull and Bones looks to be the standalone pirate game Ubisoft hinted at after everyone loved Black Flag.
Ubisoft's 'Assassin's Creed: Origins' Leaked In New Image
An off-screen image of an upcoming "Assassin's Creed" game has leaked online, with reports claiming that the new entry into the franchise will be called "Assassin's Creed: Origins." The off-screen image of "Assassin's Creed: Origins" was posted on Reddit by a user with the handle "shoutouttoashraf." The username is speculated to be referring to Ashraf Ismail, a Ubisoft employee that also worked on "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" and is also known to be working on the still-unannounced game, according to Eurogamer. A source has also confirmed to the gaming news site that the leaked image is legitimate. The leaked photo shows a player character on a wooden sailboat.

Hey Look, The New 'Assassin's Creed Origins' Game Just Leaked
The next Assassin's Creed game is called Assassin's Creed Origins and it takes place at the very beginning, when the Assassins were first crawling from the sea to walk on two legs. The new game is set in ancient Egypt, and is being developed by the team behind Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, one of my personal favorites in the video game franchise. That's all according to various leaks, including the latest on Reddit, in which someone associated with the game posted some new information, while also confirming that "most of that 4chan info that was leaked a few months ago is real, although some things have changed since then." I suspect heads will roll at Ubisoft before the day is done. Eurogamer reports that its sources at Ubisoft have confirmed that the leak is real.
